I recognize that each client is unique in terms of his or her communication strengths and needs.  I value the input of clients and their families to understand their concerns; how their communication challenges are impacting various aspects of their lives; as well as what their communication goals and intervention expectations might be.  Prospective clients are offered an initial intake session to discuss these issues, and to ask any questions they may have.

Typically, individual intervention is offered to new clients, where they would work one-on-one with the clinician.  There are some situations where it may be suggested that children participate in small group therapy.  Working with groups of two to three children often provides a more natural setting to focus on social language and communication goals.  In some instances, small group intervention allows for opportunities to focus on generalization of newly acquired skills achieved through individual therapy.

I am a firm believer that intervention is more successful when families play an active role.  Five to ten minutes at the end of each session is reserved for discussion of goals, progress, and/ or recommended follow-up activities.  Assessment, progress, and summary reports are available for clients upon request.  For those interested, I offer consultation to parents, families, and other individuals who work with my clients (e.g., teachers, caregivers, therapists) regarding suggestions or strategies to help them reach their communication goals.

I am also available for public speaking events regarding a number of topics related to speech and language development in children.  Please contact me for more details.
